The River Rights Committee of the Hoopa Valley Tribe wishes to clarify that the purpose of a recent fishing regulations meeting was to encourage salmon fishing and salmon sharing, and to get community input on how to encourage these things. Our hope is to plan fishing projects and initiatives that support the community and encourage fishing traditions, not to rehash divisive issues already been resolved by tribal members. We felt there are several updates to the Fishing ordinance that could help with these efforts and thank the community for coming out with good ideas and proposals to make these things happen.
